Year of the Pig = Difficult year for Tigers

Back in May I set myself the task of finishing 24 sketchbooks by the end of the year. Today I finally met that goal. While I think the quantity of pages I produced out numbered the quality of work, it has been the sheer force of will and the habit of drawing everyday that have helped me overcome many of the challenges that 2007 presented.

Next year I will be pursuing honours, ‘crossing over’ from Design into Fine Art, and will be majoring in Drawing. I am looking forward to the challenge and the change of a new environment, new peers, and the opportunity to develop my ‘powers’ as an artist.

I also have some exciting plans in store for 2008 that I am looking forward to sharing throughout the year. In fact, this is likely to be my last update until February 2008 as in January I will be traveling to Sydney to attend a series of workshops at the Julian Ashton School of Art.

Thanks again to everyone who has checked this blog more than once and to those who have left a comment.

Cheers.

Heya Adrian! Happy new year to you! My improvements are nothing compared to you.. it's mad!! Talented plus hard working people are always freaking me out!!

As for bookstores in Sydney, I usually go to Kinokuniya (George Street). You can find a lot of good artbooks there. You can go to the Rocks are too. Great area to do sketching and you can find Ariel bookstore there. :-)

I'm currently on holiday (overseas) until 7th January.. and will be back to Sydney on the 8th and go straight to work in the morning! phew..

All the best with everything. Again.. your works are fantastic!!

Best regards,
Charles
